This old farmhouse along Spadra Creek has been home to a full life, a physician's family, a houseful of children, and decades of memory rooted in the land. When the sycamore that anchored the shade garden was lost and the aging pole barn carport had run its course, the owners called us to help reimagine the grounds without losing what made them worth keeping. The new carport nestles between house, barn, and pumphouse, drawing on the character of each to find its own place among them. A horizontal cedar skirt closes in the open base of the house, dry-stacked stone walls terrace the hillside, and the gardens have been simplified to stay as manageable as the owners need them to be in this season of life.

Where the lost sycamore once stood, a young maple takes its place, and the garden finds its footing again around it
Old Ground, New Hands
Water in stone, new cedar alongside weathered siding, a rose at the pumphouse corner. This property carries its history forward without pretending the years didn't pass.
Welcome Home
This is the view that greets the children when they return, and the grandchildren seeing it for the first time, a compound that has always known how to receive the people who matter most.
