The Dromborg Castle Grounds

Community: City Lake Road
City / State: Fayetteville, AR
A modern castle built in the tradition of 13th-century Scotland, set stone by stone into an Ozark hilltop, called for grounds that felt equally unhurried. The winding drive and rubble walls were laid to read as if they had always been part of the hill, framing garden spaces planted to look centuries-settled, with ornamental grasses and evergreen shrubs that read as inherited rather than installed. Paths draw visitors from the entry to the rear of the home, where a stone patio, pool, and cast-baluster fountain anchor a space designed for large gatherings. The exterior also served as a working showroom for the owner's paver company, every surface chosen to demonstrate what the material could become in the right hands.

Drawn Inward
Every arrival at this property is a layered one - gates, columns, and arched openings that signal a shift from one space to the next. A castle doesn't reveal itself all at once.

Held by the Hill
Castle and grounds settle into the Ozark forest as if the trees simply parted to make room.

Built to Endure
Stone and planting that bring a different character with each season and hour, the same garden, never quite the same twice.
